WBLS and Metro PCs Circle of Sisters Gospel Explosion too explosive to match

WBLS and Metro PCs Circle of Sisters EXPO ended its Saturday's festivities with an explosive Gospel Concert!

I must say that Circle of Sisters gets it every year with the Gospel explosion. This year was equally exceptional. The auditorium at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City, last Saturday was filled with hundreds of attendees from all over the world who came with a heart of expectancy. The concert, which was the last major activity for the day featured a collage of some of the greatest gospel stars who has made a huge impact on the world. Including Sing Harlem Choir, Bebe Winans, Maranda Curtis, Koryn Hawthorne, Brian Courtney Wilson, Byron Cage and Charles Jenkins and Sound of Victory (SOV).

Sing Harlem Choir

Show openers Sing Harlem Choir came, slew and sang! They did a remixed version of the popular hymn “On Christ the Solid Rock.” They were energetic, their harmony was well rehearsed and they entertained. Up next was the crowd favorite, the multi-award-winning Bebe Winans. He ministered “I’ll Take You There”, “Laughter: Just Like a Medicine”, and "He Promised Me" His set was well received as the crowd sang and worshipped with him.

Following Winans was none other than Maranda Curtis. Curtis came with a mission to shift the atmosphere and that mission was well executed. Her holy ghost filled set had everyone on their feet clapping and shouting to God to the songs “Nobody Like You Lord” and “Way Maker”. Koryn Hawthorne followed after with a rather energetic but spirit-filled performance that even influenced two young girls from the front row to join her on stage during the performance of her last song. She belted out favorites such as Won’t He Do It” and “Warriors.” But it was her intimate rendition of the song “Yes” by Shekinah Glory Ministries that had many crying out to the God of the heavens.

Brian Courtney Wilson, Mr. Smooth came after and had the crowd in a frenzy during his entire set. He rendered favorites such as his latest hit single “ Great Work” and “Worth Fighting For”.

The Prince of praise Byron Cage came after and fed the thousands of patrons in attendance with hit after hit! These included “I Will Bless the Lord”, and The Presence Of The Lord is Here” among other favorites.

Following the prince of praise was Charles Jenkins and SOV. Continuing the momentum of those who came before him, Jenkins gave us a high energy, soul stirring, and anointed set. He and SOV who sung in the spirit had everyone rocking from side to side. This is probably one of the best Charles Jenkins experience that I have ever had. He gave us: “Can’t Turn Back”, “War”, “Just To Know Him” and “Awesome”.

All in all, this show was everything and more. It was refreshing and the talents showcased were on point. Special commendation must also be given to WBLS radio personalities Donnie McClurkin, Liz Black and Neicy T from WLIB.
